Introduction

Have you ever wondered: How can the Bible, written so long ago by no less than 40 authors, still be relevant in today’s world? It’s a legitimate question.

The Bible was written about a man who lived 2,000 years ago in a time when there were no tape recorders or digital cameras, no cell phones, not even a #2 pencil or BIC pen. Most of the 66 books were passed down orally by storytellers. Eventually, scribes documented them in writing, and they were copied meticulously to preserve them with amazing accuracy. These writings, that together tell the story of God’s love for the human race, are now combined into the Bible we hold in our hands.

Our journey to answer the question about the Bible’s relevancy actually begins with a much simpler question. What is the purpose of life? Or better yet, in Chapter 1 of Life Questions, we ask: Why am I here?

Is our purpose simply to conquer our piece of the world the best we can, using our resources to build a financial and social kingdom for ourselves and our family?

Is it simply to leave the world a better place then disappear from the face of the earth forever?

Or could it be that we’re here to become irresistible men of godly influence? What if our purpose is to connect with God and spend our lives helping others find their own connection as well? Where should we go to find out more about that purpose? How can we become equipped to fulfill our mission?

When you prepare your heart to draw alongside a brother in Christ, it dawns on you that you have been called to use your gifts to help others take steps toward a life of true significance.
