Key Points
- It is more important to know who God says you are than for you to define who you
are.
- We often allow others to define who we are and then we attempt to live up to their
expectations.
- In Christ a person's identity and significance are never tied to peformance, results
or outward behavior. There is nothing we can do to earn more of God's love of lose
any God's love.
- As a Christian, our significance is based solely on Christ - His sacrifice and His
adoption of us into His family.

Introduction
In Chapter 2 of Life Foundations, “Our New Identity,” we will see that what God
says about your identity is more important than how others define you. We will consider
the implications of trying to live up to other people’s expectations, rather than
God’s.
This chapter also explores how a person’s identity in Christ is never tied to performance,
results, or outward behavior. There is nothing we can do to earn more of God’s love
or lose any God’s love.
As a Christian, your significance is based solely on Christ—His sacrifice and your
adoption into His family.
